After a break over the summer, the popular Shine Jam Sessions are back! Helmed by our awesome teacherPedro Polo students of Shine are once again able to sign up to join in the jam, where they can showcase a musical piece they are working on, as well as jam with other students of the song elected for each jam!
Jamming in music is a fun, spontaneous way for musicians to come together and create music on the spot. It’s all about improvisation, collaboration, and exploring new sounds without a set plan. Whether you play jazz, rock, or any other genre, jamming helps you communicate through your instrument, develop creativity, and sometimes even discover new songs.
In Barcelona, jam sessions are a vibrant part of the music scene. Held in local bars and venues, these sessions let musicians of all levels meet, improvise, and build confidence in a relaxed setting. From jazz and blues to funk and rock, there’s a jam session for every style. Open mics are also popular, giving solo artists and bands the chance to perform in front of live audiences and connect with the local community.
At Shine Music School in Barcelona, our jam sessions offer students the perfect opportunity to practice and perform in a real-world setting. These sessions help students improve their improvisation, gain stage confidence, and collaborate with others. They’re also a great way to meet fellow musicians, explore different styles, and have fun while becoming part of Barcelona’s thriving music scene.
Did you know that the Shine Music School runs a combo program where students can play their instruments together, forming bands to enjoy musical experiences together.
We are looking for students that are interested in sharing music together.
Joining a musical combo is one of the best ways to level up your music skills while having a blast! Here’s why every music student should give it a go:
First off, teamwork makes the dream work. When you play in a combo, you’re not just focusing on your own part—you’re learning how to communicate musically with others and create something awesome together. It’s like having a musical conversation where everyone has a voice.
Then there’s the freedom to get creative. In many combos, especially jazz or pop ones, you get to improvise! This is your chance to show off your unique sound and experiment. Playing off-the-cuff teaches you to think quickly and make your instrument sing in ways you didn’t even know were possible.
And let’s not forget, playing in a combo can seriously boost your stage confidence. Performing with a small group helps take the edge off any stage jitters, and with more practice, you’ll feel totally comfortable rocking out in front of an audience.
Another perk? It’s a great way to make all that music theory actually useful. Instead of just reading notes and rules in a book, you get to apply things like harmonies, chord progressions, and rhythms while jamming with friends. Suddenly, theory turns into something fun and practical!
Last but not least, combos are a cool way to make friends and network. You’ll meet other musicians, pick up new styles, and maybe even get opportunities for gigs down the road. Join a combo at Shine in Barcelona and get to know the musical scene thats happening in the city!
So, if you want to grow as a musician while having fun, joining a combo is where it’s at!
